Swansea City has completed the signing of defender Rhys Williams from Liverpool on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance.

The 20-year-old becomes Swansea’s seventh summer signing and will spend the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign at the Swansea.com Stadium.

He has also put pen to paper on a new long-term contract on Merseyside.

Six of those came in the Champions League in games against Atalanta, Ajax and Midtjylland; while Williams featured regularly during the closing stages of the Premier League season as the Reds found top gear to secure an eventual third-placed finish.

That sequence included starting in a 4-2 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, with Williams winning a number of plaudits for his showing and earning praise from manager Jurgen Klopp.

Born in Preston, Williams has been capped by England at under-18, under-19 and under-21 level.
