Richards targets first league win

19th October

Gary Richards is confident it is only a matter of time before Swansea City Under-23s record their first victory of the Premier League 2 season.

The development side travel to West Ham United on Sunday aiming for their maiden league win of 2018-19.

They have collected three points from their opening seven games, but Richards believes the young Swans have been unlucky not to bank more.

He is also optimistic the international break has put the players in good stead ahead of their trip to the Chigwell Construction Stadium – home of National League side Dagenham & Redbridge.

“I think we’ve been a bit unfortunate in a couple of games and that we should have more points on the board, but it is what it is,” the under-23s coach said.

“We’re looking forward to returning to league action. We’ve had a nice break and had the opportunity to put work in on the training field.

“The games come thick and fast in this league, so it’s a case of being able to have more days with the players.

“Every day we’re seeing each player improving, so it’s only a matter of time before that first win arrives. The main thing is that we ensure we are ready to be as competitive as we can.”
