Joe Rodon expects Marc Guehi to go from strength to strength for Swansea City after playing alongside the January signing at Preston.

Guehi, 19, was one of a trio of new arrivals in SA1 during the transfer window, joining on loan from Chelsea along with Conor Gallagher; while Rhian Brewster made the temporary move from Liverpool.

He and Rodon started together for the first time in the weekend draw at Preston, with the pair impressing at the heart of the Swans defence.

The 1-1 draw saw Steve Cooper’s side claim a valuable point against a Lilywhites side boasting the best home record in the Championship.

And Wales international Rodon is pleased with how his partnership with England age-grade cap Guehi is developing.

“Marc’s a very talented defender. Every game, he’s going to get better and better,” said Rodon.

“He will grow into that position and grow more confident with each game he plays.

“He’s a great player and I’m delighted to play with him.

“Whatever centre-half plays, we know what job needs to be done. We’re all together as one and the boys know what is expected of them.”

With Brewster netting twice in four appearances since his arrival, including the equaliser at Deepdale, and Gallagher making a mark with his energy in midfield, Rodon believes Swansea have made a trio of excellent acquisitions.

And the 22-year-old hopes they can play their part in the collective effort to finish the season strongly.

“We’ve got a great bunch of lads in the changing room,” added Rodon.

“They’re three very talented players who have come in.

“They’ve hit the ground running and settled in very quickly.

“Hopefully, we can string a couple of results together and push on.”
