Russell Martin wants Swansea City to go on and back up their south Wales derby double by finishing his first campaign in charge with a strong run of form.

The Swans head to The Den tonight to take on Millwall, barely 72 hours after a 4-0 demolition of Cardiff sealed a first league double in 110 years of meetings between the old foes.

The head coach acknowledges facing the in-form Lions so soon after the intensity and emotion of derby day, but he wants to make sure his side build on a performance that showcased what Martin, his staff and players want to see on a consistent basis.

“I want us to go on and finish the season as strongly as possible so we can show what we can maybe achieve next season,” said the Swans boss.

“We know we don’t have much time before the next game, and we have a lot of games coming up in a short space of time.

“But we are looking to try and find a level of consistency that has evaded us so far.

“I said a few weeks ago that we are heading in the right direction, the wheels are turning slowly and hopefully the result at the weekend can give them more momentum and a bit more pace.

“But we know what we want to do, how we want to do it, and the guys understand why we want to do it that way.

“They have bought into it and we need to keep developing and growing and see where it takes us.”
