Russell Martin believes Swansea City can be excited by the challenge facing them at Bournemouth, and wants his side to show the progress they are making with another positive showing.

The Swans head to the south coast after back-to-back wins over Peterborough and Coventry, part of a sequence of four victories from the last five games.

There has been just one defeat in the last six games as Martin’s side find their stride after a difficult opening to the season.

They take on a Cherries side who are top of the pile in the Championship, and among the promotion favourites given they boast a squad loaded with Premier League experience.

But head coach Martin feels this is a test for the Swans to look forward to given their confidence and form.

"It's going to be a tough game. The challenge for us is to see how far we've come,” he said.

"I think it's really exciting. We're going to try and go there and be the team we want to be.

"We're going to try and control the game as much as possible. It'll be really difficult because they're a good team, but it's a really exciting challenge.

"I think Tuesday's win puts us in a really nice place in terms of morale and spirit.

"It's a squad with real talent, quality, athleticism and they play a really good style of football so it'll be a really good challenge for us, and one that we're all looking forward to.

“I have a lot of respect for Scott Parker, I have faced him a few times as a coach and I like to see young British coaches being given the opportunity and doing well.

“We know it will be a good test, but I really think it is one to look forward to.”
