Swansea City head coach Russell Martin believes Luke Cundle can bring creativity and confidence to his squad after joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old adds a different dimension to the options at Martin's disposal, and the Swans boss feels make the Wolves academy product can make a positive impact in SA1.

Cundle – who has featured seven times for Wolves’ senior team including four appearances in the Premier League – has been of interest to Martin and his staff for a while, and the Swans boss hopes he will make the most of his opportunity.

“Luke is one we’ve watched for a while,” said Martin.

“We’ve spoken to a couple of people we know at Wolves who have worked with him, and play with him, and they all speak very highly of him.

“He did well in the under-23s last season and made his debut for Wolves in the Premier League

“He’s an excellent footballer. This is first experience of playing week in week out in the Championship so that’s never easy, but I think he’ll bring us some creativity and confidence on the pitch.

“He is confident and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do and bring to us.

“It will be up to him to make his mark and break into the team as quickly as possible. He’ll have opportunities because of the depth of our squad, but he’s another young player so we don’t want to demand too much too soon.

“He definitely adds to what we’ve got and he brings flexibility as well because he can play in a few positions.”
