Russell Martin watches from the touchline

Head coach Russell Martin has urged Swansea City to find the spark to reignite their season in front of a sold-out away end at Luton this weekend.

The Swans head to Kenilworth Road on the back of their Monday night draw against Rotherham United at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Martin’s side have endured a tough period following the end of the January transfer window, and the Swans boss admits that has impacted confidence in the squad.

But he wants his side to show the character and mentality to respond against a Luton side who are in the play-off places.

“We need something to spark us back into life and get the confidence back,” said Martin.

“Going through this tough moment will definitely benefit the younger players in the future, but we need to deal with it quickly.

“We go away from home Saturday, it will be a great atmosphere with the fans we will take. We’ve sold out, which is brilliant and we are so grateful for the support.

Russell Martin shouts instructions

“We have some games coming up against teams in the top six, but it almost doesn’t matter who we face, we have to start finding ways to win. I am sure we will.

“The form we are on has been tough, the team needed help in January and did not get it. But that is gone now, we cannot do anything about it.

“We have enough here to finish the season strongly. You can sink or swim, you can grow or you can let it affect you.

“We have to win as many games as possible before what will be a big summer for the football club.

“We will keep on working, and it’s up to us to try and make sure we put ourselves in the strongest position to kick on.

“It’s about the mentality to stick together and see it through. We know we have to help the lads manage the game better on a matchday, that is for us to work out.

“But we will do it without compromising on what we believe in, and the players believe in as well.”
