Russell Martin | We need to show our courage and intensity

Russell Martin wants Swansea City to continue to play with courage and intensity at home as they look to extend their winning sequence at the Swansea.com Stadium this afternoon.

Championship hostilities resume after the international break with Blackpool the visitors to SA1.

The Seasiders have made a fine start on their return to the second tier, and have already claimed some notable scalps on their travels, including those of Middlesbrough and Sheffield United.

But the Swans have been in fine form on home turf, losing just once and winning their last four in front of their own supporters.

So, while head coach Martin is aware of the quality and threat the visitors will pose, he wants to see his side pick up where they left off in front of the Jack Army.

Russell Martin training

“Our home form has been fantastic. We really enjoy being at Swansea.com in front of our supporters. They’ve been fantastic for us. They play a massive part,” he said.

“Blackpool are a team I've got a lot of respect for. I came up against them twice last year.

“They're really good at what they do. They are really well coached and have been astute in adding quality to what they already had.

“I'm looking forward to. They play to their strengths and it'll be a tough game, but at home we feel confident.

“We will want to show the same courage and intensity that the players have shown in helping us put together this good run at home.”
