Russell Martin believes tonight’s trip to face Fulham will be a good test of the recent progress his Swansea City side have made.

The Swans head to Craven Cottage unbeaten in four league games, and on the back of a first home league win of the season against Huddersfield on the weekend.

They take on a Cottagers side who were firmly among the pre-season promotion favourites, and currently sit fourth in the Championship table.

The visitors will be underdogs in the eyes of many, but head coach Martin is keen to see the Swans embrace the task at hand in west London.

“I think [Fulham] have got one of the strongest squads in the league, along with Bournemouth and West Brom, and that’s because of where they’ve come from,” he said.

“They obviously have the goals, in (Aleksandar) Mitrovic they have one of the most prolific goal scorers at this level, as he showed the last time he’s been in this division.

“It’s going to be a real test for us, but it’s one that we’re really looking forward to after Saturday.

“And I think it’ll be a really good football match; two teams that try to play in a certain way and stay true to what they do, regardless of the situation.

“So, I think it’s a really good test for us, and it’s come at a really good time.”
