Sam Surridge | It's all about momentum

Sam Surridge feels Swansea City have the chance to build real momentum ahead of the weekend trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Swans head to Hillsborough this weekend having just claimed back-to-back wins for the first time since August.

Steve Cooper’s side followed up their derby victory over Cardiff by nabbing the three points at Wigan, courtesy of Surridge’s stoppage-time winner.

They sit fourth in the Championship table with pretty much a third of the season in the books.

And, having had an inconsistent run of results prior to the two wins, striker Surridge wants the Swans to make sure they take the chance to put a run together.

“I think we just need momentum. Everyone in the Championship is looking for it but, hopefully, we can be the team to get it,” said the England Under-21 international.

“We need to go to Sheffield Wednesday this week with the same mindset. Hopefully, we can do that and put in the same of performance.

“We’re unbeaten away from home so we’re confident of going to places like there and getting something.”

Surridge’s fifth goal of the season came from an excellent cross from fellow substitute Connor Roberts at the DW Stadium.

And he praised the manner in which the Swans dug in during a spell of Wigan pressure, before showing a clinical edge at the other end of the pitch.

“It wasn’t necessarily our best performance of the season, but we stuck at it,” he added.

“Most of their goals come from set-pieces so we knew what we were coming up against.

“We worked hard on that side of things during the week and we defended brilliantly.

“We knew they were in good form at home so it’s great to know we can go to places like that and win.”
