Mamady Sidibe celebrates after his goal helped set Swansea City on the way to victory on the opening day of the 2001-02 season.

The striker scored the second goal of the afternoon for the Swans as they faced Macclesfield at Moss Rose, with Gareth Phillips having opened the scoring.

Lee Glover would pull a goal back from the penalty spot before the interval, but a spot-kick from Steve Watkin late on would ensure John Hollins' side would take all three points in their Division Three opener.

Hollins would only remain in charge for another month, with Colin Addison, Roger Freestone and Nick Cusack all having spells in the managerial hotseat before the season was through.

Swansea would eventually finish the season in 20th place, while Macclesfield would finish seven points above them in 13th.
