Bob Latchford rises into the floodlit sky as Swansea City play their first European game in 15 years.

Lokomotive Leipzig were the visitors in a European Cup Winners' Cup tie at Vetch Field on September 16, 1981.

John Toshack's team were in good shape domestically heading into the game, having won three of their first four league fixtures following promotion to the First Division.

But they were endure a frustrating night against their East German opponents.

The loss of Leighton James to an early injury disrupted the Swans, who were beaten 1-0 after a mistake by Dai Davies led to a goal from Hans-Jurgen Kinne.

The Swans then lost the second leg 2-1, with Jeremy Charles' late goal no more than a consolation.
