Stephen Eustáquio signs for Swansea City
Swansea City is delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Stephen Eustáquio from Porto for an undisclosed fee, subject to the relevant clearance.
The 29-year-old joins the Swans on a two-year contract through to the summer of 2028, which includes the option of an additional 12 months.
The Canada international has chosen to wear the number 46 shirt in SA1, and will be in contention for inclusion in head coach Vitor Matos’ squad for this weekend’s Championship fixture at Derby County.
The experienced playmaker will bring leadership, tactical awareness and a proven ability to dictate play as he adds to Matos’ options in the middle of the pitch.
Eustáquio joins Swansea on the back of a memorable World Cup campaign with Canada, where his performances received deserved praise and recognition.
The host nation reaching the knockout stages for the first time, and Eustáquio scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to help them see off South Africa in the last 32 before losing out to Morocco in the last 16.
He has spent the last four-and-a-half years with Porto, making over 150 appearances and featuring in the Champions League and Europa League.
Born in Canada to Portuguese parents, his family returned to Portugal when he was seven and he has played for Nazarenos, Torreense, Leixoes, Chaves, Mexican side Cruz Azul, Pacos Ferreira, Porta and LAFC. Eustáquio represented Portugal at youth level, but committed to playing senior international football for Canada in 2019.

“He is going to be an important player for us, on and off the pitch, and I am sure our fans are going to enjoy watching him play for Swansea City.”
