Steve Cooper | Another step forward

Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper felt his side had taken another step forward in their pre-season preparations with their 6-1 win at Yeovil.

Jay Fulton bagged a hat-trick, while Bersant Celina, Barrie McKay and Courtney Baker-Richardson also got on the scoresheet at Huish Park.

The Swans could easily have added more to their tally against their National League opponents, and Cooper was again encouraged by aspects of his side's attacking play.

There were some lovely, fluid attacks from the visitors as they continue to build towards next month's Championship opener against Hull.

Cooper and his players know there is much work still to be done, but the Swans' boss is pleased by the progress being made.

"It's a good scoreline and it's good to score some goals, but more important tonight was the football that we played," he said.

"I thought we really dominated with the ball, created lots of chances and, if I am being honest, I would have liked to have scored more.

"But we are halfway through pre-season and we are building towards the start of the season so it was a productive night.

"The objective for the players is to make sure we don't take any backward steps.

"We are building towards creating a way of playing this year and to get to where we want to be we have to keep on adding all the time.

"That's the challenge for the boys and tonight I think we did add to that and I was pleased with the boys who started and finished the game."
