Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper is confident his side have the steel and belief to make the most of their festive brace of Liberty Stadium fixtures.

The Swans host Barnsley in SA1 this afternoon looking to quickly get back to winning ways after a disappointing performance and result at Brentford on Boxing Day.

That result ended a three-match unbeaten sequence, including wins at home to Middlesbrough and at Luton.

Swansea have an ideal opportunity to bounce back and end 2019 on a high on home turf.

Results have not always been easy to come by at home this season, but Cooper is confident this squad have the resolve and ability to build on that win over Boro.

“We are heading home on the back of a disappointing performance and result against Brentford, and we want to focus on ourselves and doing better in terms of our use of possession and our defending,” said Cooper.

“There’s nothing new for us. We have two home games, we have not hidden away from the fact we need to win more games at home and there is no better opportunity to do that with how the fixtures have fallen and taking these games on.

“We believe we can win any game we play, as long as we play well enough and we believe in what we do.

“That can be harder to do, than it is to say. We are disappointed with the manner of the first-half performance at Brentford so we have to focus on what we want to do well.”
