Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper is confident of making further additions to his squad – including a striker – before the transfer window closes in a week.

The 39-year-old confirmed the Swans are closing in on the signing of Kristoffer Peterson from Dutch club Heracles Almelo, following the arrival of goalkeeper Freddie Woodman on a season-long loan from Newcastle.

The acquisition of Peterson would take the number of signings since Cooper’s appointment to four, and the former England Under-17 boss expects there will be more to follow in the seven days ahead.

“I am confident. I am pretty sure we will bring some more players in,” he said.

Freddie Woodman

“I don’t know an exact number because we have got to be very careful on the type of characters we bring in.

“We have to make sure we keep adding to the spirit of the group.

“We don’t want to dismantle that, but we do need a couple of extra bodies. I think we need another striker in, that’s for sure, and hopefully that will be the case before the end of the window.”
