Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper has expressed his gratitude for the terrific support his side have received during pre-season, and has vowed he and his players will do their utmost to make the Jack Army proud this season.

Nearly 450 Swans’ fans made the long journey to Crawley, while there were around 350 at Exeter at the weekend following another healthy travelling contingent at Yeovil.

More of the same is expected at Bristol Rovers tonight (7.45pm), and Cooper says the following his team have already had just adds to the motivation to give the Swans fans plenty to cheer.

“I knew from day one that this is a club where the supporters get right behind the team,” he said.

“I know I shouldn’t have been surprised with how many fans were at Crawley, but I was and it just served as another reminder to me that we have got a really important job to do this year.

“I just want them to be connected to the players and vice versa. We will do our absolute best at our end through thick and thin.

“I want them to proud of a team playing in the Swansea City way, working hard when they haven’t got the ball and showing a real passion for the club they are representing.

“The fans do that and the players on the pitch need to be doing the same, and they will.”
