Steve Cooper | Our mentality has to be that we can do this
Steve Cooper says Swansea City have to believe they can get themselves back into the Championship play-off spots.
Despite the frustration of last week’s 4-4 draw with Hull, results elsewhere meant the Swans narrowed the deficit to the top six to five points.
A five-match winless run has seen the Swans drop to 11th in the table, but they are firmly in the hunt with 13 games remaining.
And Cooper is keen for his squad to keep a positive mindset, with their fate very much still in their own hands.
“We have to look forward and aim to do better,” said the head coach.
“We are five points off the play-offs and we are looking forward with a ‘we can do this’ mentality.
“We have to have that, otherwise what’s the point?
“If we win a game on Saturday, as we are aiming to do, and results go for us then it’s less of a gap and then you never know.
“We have to have that mentality, and we do.
“We have been in the top six numerous times this season, we know the games are getting less and less and it won’t be far off before time starts to run out.
“So, if we don’t believe we can win games, then what is the point?
“We are not here just to play our part, we are here to succeed.”
