Liam Cullen admitted his stunning long-range goal against Stoke City ranks up there with his very best in a Swansea City shirt.

The Wales international, on as a second-half substitute, with his side 1-0 to the good at the Swansea.com Stadium, produced a moment of magic for the second home game in a row as he caught the Stoke City keeper off his line in stoppage time from 45 yards.

If followed his fantastic header in the final seconds to secure a draw against Preston, and sparked delirious celebrations as Swansea extended their unbeaten run on home turf to 10 league games.

And the forward could not hide his delight as he reflected on his wonder strike.

“The ball was cleared and it came to my feet, and straight away I had about four of the lads shouting ‘shoot’ at me, along with about 15,000 people in the crowd,” he said with a smile.

“But the moment I got it out of my feet it was the first thing that was on my mind. It was set up nicely, and I knew I needed to get a good connection on it.

“It seemed like it took forever to actually land in the net, I’ve not really scored one like that before and it was not until the last second that I realised it was going in.

“I was watching the keeper, and initially he looked really calm and I thought he was either going to be able to tip it over or to catch it. I think people sat lower down at that end knew it before me, but it was great to see it hit the net.

“It was a great feeling, and I think it’s got to be right up there among the goals I have scored over the years.

“I’m just so happy that it was to make sure we got three points and it keeps us moving in the right direction.”
