Swans Amat boost

27th June

Swansea City have completed the £2.5m signing of central defender Jordi Amat from Espanyol, subject to a medical and international clearance.
Amat arrived at the Liberty Stadium late on Thursday night and finalised a four-year deal with the club.
Born in Canet de Mar, Catalonia, Amat has been with Espanyol since the age of seven. He rose through the ranks and featured for the B team in the third division before making his first-team debut at the age of 17.
He managed 26 La Liga appearances in his first full season as Espanyol finished eighth, before featuring in the following campaign which saw the club end up just three points off the top half.
A loan switch to Rayo Vallecano last season paid off for both player and club - Amat made 27 appearances, which included a superb 50-yard goal against Valladolid, as Michu's former club claimed eighth place.
On the international front, Amat has featured for Spain at every age group from Under-16s to Under-21s.
He was part of the squad that finished third at the U17 World Cup in 2009, with Amat playing alongside Manchester United's David de Gea and former Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic.

We'll bring you Amat's reaction to the move tomorrow afternoon.
