Swans Ladies lift silverware ahead of new season

18th August 2015

Swansea City Ladies head into the new season on the back of winning the Nottingham International Cup.
The competition provided a chance for a young squad to prepare for the forthcoming 2015-16 campaign in the Welsh Women's Premier League.
The Swans qualified from their group after wins over Stoke City (2-1) and Birkenhead (3-0) before beating Welsh rivals Llandudno 3-0 in the semi-final.
And goals from Katie Davies and a long-range effort from Amanda John against Northwich Vixens in the final secured the trophy for the Swans.
Ian Owen's side kicked off their pre-season campaign against Wales Under-19s at Newport's Dragon Park earlier this month, with a host of new signings featuring as the Swans narrowly lost 1-0.
However, following the success in Nottingham, the side also lifted silverware at the FIFA Live your Goals Festival in Aberystwyth.
The Swans kick-off their Welsh Women's Premier League campaign away at Rhyl and Prestatyn Ladies on Sunday, September 13.
