Manager Graham Potter says Swansea City are in talks with Daniel James, Mike van der Hoorn and Leroy Fer about extensions to their contracts at the Liberty Stadium.

Winger James - who is back in the Swans fold after a proposed January move to Leeds fell through as suitable terms could not be agreed - has just under 18 months remaining on his existing contract.

Club captain Fer's deal runs out this summer, while the club already have the option of extending defender van der Hoorn's deal - which runs to the end of the current campaign - for an additional 12 months.

But Potter says discussions have taken place with the Dutchman over a longer-term extension than that provided by the option.

"I have personally spoken to Leroy around that yesterday," said Potter when asked about Fer's future.

"I spoke with him, and the club are speaking with Mike and chatting with Dan as well.

"So in our own time, when it is right for all three, we have started the process now and they will continue.

"From a coach's perspective they have been important for us. I like them as players, I like them as people and they have been important in the dressing room.

"There is a bigger picture for everyone to consider, but we have started those conversations and we will see where it goes."
