Swansea City will wait to discover the extent of Joel Latibeaudiere’s knee injury, but are hopeful the defender will not face a spell on the sidelines.

The centre-half was forced off just 10 minutes into the 3-1 defeat to Preston at Deepdale, after falling awkwardly battling with Emil Riis.

“He landed awkwardly on his knee, which was another thing that hurt us today,” said head coach Russell Martin.

“It was a change we did not want to make, Brandon (Cooper) had to come on and he is absolutely knackered. He has done brilliantly but he has had to play a lot of games without a pre-season.

“He needed a rest, but he needed to come on. It also meant we couldn’t make the changes we wanted to later in the game.

“I hope Joel will be okay, it seems to be settling down nicely, but we will speak to the physios on Monday and go from there.”
