Swansea City AFC Foundation gift over £3,000 back to grassroots clubs
Swansea City AFC Foundation has gifted more than £3,000 to grassroots football clubs following a successful summer of junior soccer camps.
Fifteen clubs took part in the Foundation’s summer soccer camps, including Ammanford AFC, Brecon Town, Bryn Rovers, Clarbeston Road, Rockspur, Monkton Swifts, Morriston Town, Kilgetty, Ystradgynlais, Llechryd, St Clears, Rhymney Juniors, Waunarlwydd Galaxy, Pontnewydd United and Pontarddulais Town.
Across the 15 clubs, 615 participants enjoyed fun, football-filled days in the sun, while the clubs themselves also benefited from partnering with the Swans Foundation.
The Foundation has donated £3,075 back to the clubs involved in the scheme, with funds raised through soccer camp bookings helping to support grassroots football across south-west Wales.
All clubs that took part in the summer soccer camps will also be offered the opportunity for their teams to welcome Swansea City onto the pitch by forming the guard of honour at a Championship fixture this season.
Rockspur and Morriston Town have already taken up the opportunity, forming the guard of honour at Swansea City’s home fixtures against Sheffield United and Wrexham respectively.
Swansea City AFC Foundation’s youth engagement manager, Craig Richards, thanked the grassroots clubs for their continued enthusiasm and support for the initiative.
“We always look forward to delivering our club soccer camps throughout the summer,” said Richards.
“It’s fantastic to see how much the young players enjoy taking part, and the positive feedback we receive from coaches and parents makes the experience even more rewarding.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer clubs and their players the opportunity to visit the Swansea.com Stadium and form the guard of honour at a Swans fixture this season.
“We hope they have a brilliant experience and wish all the clubs and players the very best for the season ahead.”
