Walking Football

Swansea City AFC Foundation's walking football programme is aimed at those who want to play football in an inclusive environment and improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Whether you just want to play football at a comfortable pace, or if you're recovering from an injury or operation, there are plenty of reasons why walking football is beneficial.

The health benefits which come from participating include reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and strokes while improving blood pressure, in addition to the social advantages such as a sense of purpose and belonging by being part of a supportive group.

The Swans Foundation has been committed to delivering walking football sessions within the local community for the past decade and is now aiming to strengthen the popularity of the sessions with a new base in Cefn Hengoed.

Starting from Monday May 12, there will be a new walking football session aimed at those aged 55 and over in the indoor barn at Cefn Hengoed Leisure Centre, Bon-y-maen, SA1 7JF.

After an hour of football, between 1pm and 2pm, participants are invited to visit the cafe in the leisure centre for a cuppa and a chat to provide further opportunity for the group to socialise.
