Joe Allen warms up as a substitute

Swansea City boss Michael Duff has confirmed Joe Allen and Kyle Naughton are facing spells on the sidelines through injury.

Midfielder Allen was a late withdrawal after being named in the team to start the south Wales derby, suffering a groin injury in the warm-up, while defender Naughton has had a calf problem.

Head coach Duff confirmed Allen has seen a specialist, and is hopeful Josh Key and Liam Cullen will quickly be back in contention after they were forced off during the draw at Queens Park Rangers.

“Joe Allen is going to be a while now,” said Duff.

“He has been to see a specialist, so we will have to wait and see, there are two or three possible outcomes and the specialist needs some time before we make a decision.

“We have not had Naughts since the Bristol City game and he will be a while as well.

“We are not sure what the situation is with Josh, it is very unlike him. He is such a fit kid, he is right up there in the running stats every game, but after 25 minutes he said he felt like he had run a marathon.

“So, we will need to have a look at whether he is ill, or we need to look at recovery strategies.

“Culls took a knock on the ankle and said he could run and help the team, so he sacrificed himself to try and help the team.”
