Swansea City have full squad to choose from for Royals appointment

Russell Martin will have a full squad to choose from as Swansea City look to sign off their latest three-game week on a positive note against Reading in SA1.

The Swans go into the game on the back of a convincing 2-0 victory at Barnsley in midweek.

Goals from sub Olivier Ntcham and Jamie Paterson sealed a third Championship win on the road for Martin’s side, who dominated with nearly 80 per cent possession and made over 800 passes in Yorkshire on Wednesday night.

Now they look to back that up with another victory at the Swansea.com Stadium against the Royals.

And Martin admits his coaching staff and squad will use the performance levels and results from the final match in previous three-game weeks – defeats at Birmingham City and Bournemouth – as a learning curve going into this encounter.

Ryan Manning Training

“There are a few tired bodies from midweek, and we have to be aware of it being the third game in the week and learn from the previous two games - Bournemouth and Birmingham – that were the third games in past periods,” said Martin.

“We have a home game rather than two away games in a row so it’s not about travelling this time. It’s the energy at the end of the week that is the big thing.

“We’ve had some really tough games against Blackpool and Barnsley, and to come out of it like we have is very nice.

“There’s a lot of work to do, and progress to make.”

Meanwhile, Ryan Manning and Flynn Downes, who are both on four bookings, are available as they avoided picking up their fifth yellow cards of the season at Oakwell, which would have led to a one-match suspension.

The new threshold of 10 bookings leading to a one-game suspension came into force after the game at Barnsley, and will last until the away fixture at Blackpool in March.
