Steven Benda made his 19th appearance of the season as League Two leaders Swindon Town were beaten 2-0 by Newport County.

The German keeper, who has kept six cleansheets this season, was helpless as former Swan Josh Sheehan fired Newport into the lead after just 45 seconds.

Despite the defeat, Swindon remain top and six points clear of the play-off spots.

In the Dutch top flight, Joe Asoro started in Groningen’s 0-0 draw at Twente.

The Swede featured for the tenth time of his loan spell, with the forward being replaced in the 89th minute.

Defender Joe Lewis was involved in a five-goal thriller as Torquay United beat AFC Fylde 3-2 in the National League.

The centre-back made his 23rd appearance for Torquay, who moved to within five points of the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Montero was on the bench as Birmingham City drew 1-1 with Cardiff at St Andrews.

The Ecuadorian has made 12 appearances – two from the start – for the Blues this term.

Finally, Cian Harries and Gregor Zabret weren’t included in the matchday squad for Fortuna Sittard and Oldham for their matches over the weekend.
