SWANSEA CITY TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE FORMER PLAYERS ASSOCIATION AT SHEFFIELD UNITED GAME
As the club marks the 20th anniversary of its move from the Vetch Field to the Swansea.com Stadium in 2005, we will be using the Sheffield United match to shine a spotlight on the Former Players Association (FPA).
We’re also asking the Jack Army to help the FPA continue their amazing work in supporting our players of the past by giving generously to our bucket collection and taking part in our shirt auction with more details to follow prior to kick-off tomorrow afternoon.
ABOUT THE FPA
The FPA exists to unite those who have worn the club shirt and who wish to continue or renew their links with the Swans. It is run by a working committee which includes former players Lee Trundle and lifelong president Alan Curtis as well as Esme Allchurch, widow of Swansea City great, Ivor Allchurch, and current Swans Women captain Katy Hosford.
Its primary aims are to promote friendship, support and charitable work, including fundraising, by bringing together players from different generations and different eras while also overseeing a financial support scheme to ensure our players of the past are looked after.
Since the launch of the scheme in 2022, and thanks to the generosity of supporter donations as well as money made at fundraising events, the club has been able to offer support to many of its former players and everyone who has reached out has received some level of support.
