Swansea City ranked in the top three of the Think Fan Engagement Index
Swansea City is delighted to have been risen to third in the Think Fan Engagement (Think FE) Index for the 2025-26 campaign.
The Index reviews the fan engagement of all 116 men’s football clubs competing in the football pyramid’s top five divisions and issues a score out of 240 to determine how successfully a club integrates its fans into decision making.
The score is created using an algorithm with a focus on three sections (dialogue, governance, transparency) which all carry a score of 80 each.
You can read the algorithm in full here.
The Swans sit third, up one place from the 2024-25 season, with an overall score of 210, having increased its transparency score by five while governance remained at 65 and dialogue remained at the maximum 80.
Think FE was founded by Kevin Rye, an expert in fan engagement which focuses on the relationship between fans and clubs and his work digs into the detail of a club’s fan engagement strategy, going beyond the media and seeking out what conversations clubs have with their fans, what underpins and guarantees those conversations, and how transparent those meetings are.
The index is completely independent with clubs ranked on the information the assessors have been able to find through their research, which makes the transparency a key factor of the scoring system.
Swansea City CEO, Tom Gorringe, said: “We are really pleased to see the results of the Fan Engagement Index and to have achieved a score of 210 and the Silver Award.
“While being ranked third is a positive headline placing , we are particularly pleased that we have been able to make an incremental improvement to our score, signaling that we are making progress in this area.
“The club has always made a conscious and concerted effort to consult with supporters, and the role of the Supporters’ Trust is vital in this.
“We are grateful for their guidance and support across key matters, and this relationship is a key part of why the Fan Engagement Index rewards Swansea City’s approach to fan engagement.
“We believe we are entering an exciting time for improving dialogue and transparency with supporters, and we will continue working hard to improve the score again in the coming seasons."
Swansea City Supporters' Trust added: "Swansea City Supporters’ Trust is delighted that the club's improved fan engagement has been rewarded by this silver award.
"The Trust continues to be part of the engagement process on a wide variety of issues that directly impacts our members and supporters. Our regular meetings with Club CEO Tom Gorringe and other members of the club’s senior management team - plus our two permanent positions on the Club Board - are invaluable in ensuring there is always a two-way process when dealing with matters of importance.
"The Trust has been fully involved with the club as they work towards the establishment of a Supporter Advisory Board, and hope that the introduction of this extra level of supporter consultation will result in further improvement next year."
