Swansea City seal loan move for Kaelan Casey

Swansea City is pleased to confirm the signing of defender Kaelan Casey on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance.
The 20-year-old joins the Swans from West Ham United, and will wear the number 26 shirt during the coming campaign.
The England age-grade international bolsters head coach Alan Sheehan’s defensive options, and he is set to be available for Saturday’s Championship opener at Middlesbrough.
Casey has been on the books of the Hammers since the age of five, and came through the ranks to make his senior debut in a Europa Conference League fixture against Steaua Bucharest in November 2022.
He helped West Ham win the FA Youth Cup in 2023, scoring their fourth goal in a 5-1 win over their Arsenal counterparts.
Casey made his Premier League bow in May 2024, coming on as a late substitute in a victory over Luton Town. He recently featured for the Hammers under former Swansea coach Graham Potter in the Premier League Summer Series in America.
Head coach Alan Sheehan, said: “We are happy to have been able to bring in Kaelan ahead of the start of the new season, and he will provide us with additional competition and depth in the defensive area of the pitch.
“He is highly thought of at West Ham, he has been involved in their first-team squad during pre-season, and he is excited about the chance to prove himself at Championship level.”
Director of football, Richard Montague, added: “Kaelan will provide valuable depth for us in an area we had previously identified as needed additional resource this summer.
“He has already had a taste of Premier League football, which underlines how he is viewed by West Ham, and in our discussions with him his appetite to challenge himself has been clear. We hope he will prove to be a positive addition, developing his own game and improving us as a squad.”
Global head of analytics and recruitment, Adam Worth, added: “Kaelan is a talented young player we believe has the attributes to strengthen our options defensively.
“He already has experience of playing in Europe and at Premier League level, and he joins us raring to go following his recent experience in America.”
