Swansea City under-18s

5th January

Swansea City Under-18s could not halt Chelsea's dominating league form as they suffered a second 5-0 defeat against the London side in Premier League South at Landore on Thursday.
The Swans threatened in the opening ten minutes as Tom Price's corner almost found the head of striker Sean Hanbury inside the area.
Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi could only fire his shot wide of goal before Swans midfielder Mason Jones-Thomas cut inside to beat two players only for his shot to be denied by Jamie Cumming in the Blues' net.
Chelsea did break the deadlock on the 20-minute mark as Hudson-Odoi's pass found Tariq Uwakwe, and the winger fired into the bottom corner.
Swans keeper Lewis Thomas denied the visitors a second minutes later as saved a low shot from Blues striker Charlie Brown.
But Brown was not to be denied before half-time as Hudson-Odoi pounced on a chance at the back to supply the striker with a comfortable finish.
The Blues netted their third ten minutes after the restart as substitute Reece James was on the end of Cole Da Silva's cross, and the former's close-range finish at the far post beat keeper Thomas.
Swansea continued to battle in midfield as Thomas saved Hudon-Odi's low shot before Uwakwe's 20-yard free-kick cannoned off the crossbar.
But the Chelsea winger did add his second of the afternoon in the final ten minutes with a powerful strike that gave Thomas no chance before George McEachran added a fifth minutes later.
The defeat is only the young Swans' second at Landore all season, while table-toppers Chelsea extend their unbeaten run to 13 games.
