Swansea City will wait to discover the extent of Mike van der Hoorn’s knee injury after the Dutchman was a late withdrawal from the defeat at Brentford.

Van der Hoorn had been due to partner Ben Cabango in the Swans defence at Griffin Park, only to come down with a problem during the warm-up.

It ended his run of 70 consecutive league starts for the club, stretching all the way back to the final day of the 2017-18 season.

With games against Barnsley and Charlton coming up quickly during the typically hectic festive schedule, the former Ajax man has little time to recover and prove his fitness.

But head coach Cooper said it was too soon to be sure of the nature of the problem.

"I don't the extent of the injury at the moment because obviously it was a quick change, and we have to focus on the game" he said.

"It's a blow, but these things do happen from time to time and it certainly doesn't make an excuse on the game.

"The extent of Mike's injury, I'm not sure, but we'll find out pretty soon."
