Reading away Joe Allen 2

Joe Allen returns to the Swansea City starting line-up in the only change for the opening fixture of 2023 against Championship leaders Burnley.

Head coach Russell Martin sticks with the same 18 that were in the matchday squad for Friday’s 4-0 thumping of promotion hopefuls Watford.

The only alteration in selection sees Allen come in for Luke Cundle in the Swans midfield.

Steven Benda continues in goal, with Joel Latibeaudiere, Ben Cabango, Harry Darling and Ryan Manning making up the Swansea defence.

Skipper Matt Grimes is joined by Allen and Jay Fulton in midfield, with Ollie Cooper set to operate just ahead of them.

The in-form pairing of Liam Cullen and Joel Piroe, who have six goals between them from Swansea’s last three games, lead the line for the hosts.

The visitors' starting XI includes two former Swans with both Connor Roberts and skipper Jack Cork making a return to SA1.
