Swansea City 4-1 West Ham
Barclays Premier League | March 3, 2018
Swansea City climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone with an emphatic victory over West Ham United at the Liberty Stadium.
Ki Sung-yueng got the Swans off to a flying start, guiding a low finish into the bottom corner after being teed up by Andre Ayew.
The hosts doubled their advantage before the break when Mike van der Hoorn rose unmarked to head home Ki’s corner.
The first half was overshadowed by a serious injury to West Ham defender Winston Reid, who required lengthy treatment following a collision in a goalmouth scramble before being carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital.
Carlos Carvalhal’s side continued to dominate after the interval. Andy King reacted quickest to turn home the rebound after Adrian had denied Andre Ayew, before Jordan Ayew made it four from the penalty spot after his brother was fouled by Cheikhou Kouyate.
Michail Antonio grabbed a late consolation for the visitors, but it did little to take the shine off a crucial three points for the Swans.
Swansea City 1-1 West Ham
Barclays Premier League | January 10, 2015
Swansea City had to settle for a share of the spoils after recovering from a first-half setback to draw with West Ham at the Liberty Stadium.
The Swans created the better openings during the early stages but were unable to make their pressure count.
They were made to pay shortly before half-time when Andy Carroll produced a superb finish, lifting the ball into the top corner to put the visitors ahead.
Garry Monk’s side responded after the break, with substitute Marvin Emnes helping to inject fresh energy into the attack.
Their persistence eventually paid off when Bafetimbi Gomis’ header was turned into his own net by Mark Noble, restoring parity and ensuring Swansea extended their impressive home record.
Swansea City 3-0 West Ham
Barclays Premier League | August 25, 2012
Swansea City continued their outstanding start to life under Michael Laudrup with a convincing victory over West Ham, making it two wins from their opening two Premier League fixtures.
The hosts took the lead when Angel Rangel’s effort slipped beneath goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, giving the Swans a deserved advantage. Their second goal arrived courtesy of a costly defensive mistake, as James Collins’ underhit back pass allowed Michu to race through and finish.
West Ham struggled to find a response, and Swansea put the result beyond doubt in the second half. A flowing attacking move ended with Danny Graham applying the finishing touch to complete a comfortable afternoon for the hosts.
The result sent Laudrup’s side to the top of the Premier League table, having scored eight goals across their first two games of the campaign.
Swansea City 1-0 West Ham
FA Cup Third Round replay | January 13, 1999
Swansea City knocked three-time winners West Ham United out of the FA Cup with a memorable 1-0 victory at Vetch Field in January 1999.
The Swans had come close to claiming the scalp in the original third-round tie at Upton Park, only for Julian Dicks to score a late equaliser after Jason Smith had given John Hollins’ side the lead.
At the time, no club from the lowest division of the Football League had beaten a Premier League side in the FA Cup since the top flight’s formation in 1992.
Ten days later, Martin Thomas struck from 20 yards to put Swansea ahead in front of a packed Vetch Field. The Swans defended resolutely through against a team boasting the likes of Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and Swansea-born John Hartson.
Roger Freestone was in fine form to secure a famous win over Harry Redknapp’s Hammers, who went on to finish fifth in the Premier League that season.
