Tiago Parente joins Swansea City on loan
Swansea City is pleased to announce the signing of defender Tiago Parente on a season-long loan from Benfica, subject to the relevant clearance.
The deal also includes an option to buy the Portugal age-grade international, who has come through the academy ranks at Estadio da Luz.
The 20-year-old made his senior debut for Benfica in May 2025, and will wear the number 20 shirt in SA1. He watched his new teammates in action during Saturday’s friendly victory over CD Leganes at the Swansea.com Stadium.
He will provide cover and competition in the left-back position for the Swans, and could be in contention to be involved in Saturday’s Carabao Cup tie against Birmingham City.
“We are pleased to bring in Tiago to provide us with competition and another option in the left-back position,” said head coach Vitor Matos.
“He is a talented young player who is excited by the chance to test himself in a different environment, we are happy to have him here and look forward to bringing him into our squad.”
Swansea City sporting director Ben Stevens, added: “We are extremely happy that Tiago has agreed to join us, and he arrives from a club in Benfica who historically have produced very talented young players.
"He had a great season last year playing in the Portuguese second division, the Premier League International Cup and the Uefa Youth League.
"He also featured internationally for Portugal under-20s, and we are hopeful he can continue his development with us."
