Coach Cameron Toshack expressed his delight as Swansea City Under-23s took a huge step towards winning the Premier League 2 (Division 2) title with a 1-0 victory over West Brom at Aggborough Stadium.

Oli McBurnie's second-half header was enough to give the young Swans victory, which was their 15th league win of the season.

The result means the Swans move 13 points clear at the top of the league and need just a point from Monday's game against Wolves to mathematically confirm the league title.

"I am delighted with the way we played this evening," Toshack said. "All the character and quality we know we have as a team shone through and I thought we were excellent.

"We dominated the first half and were unfortunate not to go in at the break 3-0 up. We had a number of chances but lacked that bit of luck in front of goal to break the deadlock.

"When the goal came we defended well and managed to keep the clean sheet we needed.

"The team were determined to get the victory. They know what is on the line and they handled that pressure well.

"Tonight is an important victory and we are very happy, but we are aware that the title race is not done until it is done.

"We still need a point to be sure and therefore must maintain our standards next week against Wolves and finish the job.

"The players deserve a huge amount of credit for how they have progressed throughout the course of this season. They have set their own targets this campaign and are delivering on them."
