Toshack: We must attack

24th November

Cameron Toshack wants Swansea City Under-23s to maintain their offensive mentality when they face Sunderland in Premier League 2 at Eppleton on Sunday (noon).

Late goals from George Byers and Kenji Gorre helped the development side defeat Arsenal 3-1 at Landore this week.

The victory lifted the under-23s to seventh in the division one table and Toshack wants the young Swans to once again prove themselves in front of goal this weekend.

“Confidence is the team is high following the performance we delivered against Arsenal,” he said.

“Monday’s victory has set the bar high, now we must do our best to maintain that level.

“There have been games this season where we feel we should have picked up more points. We don’t want to continue to be in that position.

“Sunderland have a very good academy with a good history of producing young players that progress to a first-team level.

“We know it will not be an easy game. They beat high-flying Everton last month, so we are expecting a competitive contest.

“Our players want to build on this week’s win and must look to go there and attack from the outset.

“We have been very good at getting the ball into attacking areas, so we must continue to convert the chances we create.”
