U18s triumph in Bosnia

30th July

Swans U18s lifted their first silverware of the season after coming out on top in the Football Friends tournament in Bosnia.
Tony Pennock's youngsters triumphed despite the warm conditions and late kick-offs, and won all their three matches - all played over 80 minutes.
Kyle Copp scored the only goal in the quarter-final win over Bosnian side FK Zeljeznicar before Tom Atyeo headed home the sole strike in the semi-final victory against hosts FK Sutjeska.
That set up a final with Dutch outfit NAC Breda, and again it proved a tight affair.
But Alex Samuel's goal was enough to hand the Swans the trophy, even though they had to hold on following Luke Llewellyn's late dismissal for timewasting.
To cap off a truly outstanding success for the young Swans, new signing Stephen Fallon was named player of the tournament.
"It was an eye-opener for our lads to see what some people have and haven't got in a country like Bosnia, where they are rebuilding after war," Pennock said.
"On the field they were outstanding. We came through different tests and that will stand them all in good stead.
"I was very pleased with how they conducted themselves and obviously winning a tournament is a great feeling.
"As well as the games, we managed to do a training session with 50 kids from the village where we stayed, and that was all part of a great experience."
