Vital statistics: Middlesbrough

First team

Swansea City bounced back from defeat at Stoke by securing a creditable draw at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

We check out the key numbers after the Riverside stalemate.

4 – Erwin Mulder’s shutout at Middlesbrough means the Swans have now banked four clean sheets in nine league games this season. They managed a total of nine in 38 Premier League outings last term.

6 – The Swans have conceded just six goals in the Championship this term. Following Leeds’ 2-1 home defeat by Birmingham over the weekend, only one team in the second tier has a better defensive record than the Swans – Middlesbrough. The Teessiders have conceded a meagre three Championship goals so far.

1 – The Swans became the first team to take a point off Boro on their patch this season. Tony Pulis’s side had managed four wins from four on home soil before the weekend.

7 – Graham Potter was rightly pleased – once again – with his team’s defensive efforts at Middlesbrough, but wants the Swans to do more going forward. They have scored only seven goals so far this season, one of the lowest tallies in the division.

8 – The Swans have taken eight points from a possible on their travels so far this season. No Championship team has banked more, although Leeds, Norwich, Blackburn and Bolton also have eight away points to their names.

58 – The Swans had 58 per cent of possession at the Riverside on Saturday.

14 – The Swans are 14th in the early-season Championship table. Things are very tight, however, and they are only three points behind fourth-placed Sheffield United.

1 – Potter’s men return home to the Liberty to face Queens Park Rangers this weekend, when they will be looking to add to their one home victory thus far. Just four Championship teams have taken fewer home points than the Swans so far this season, although Potter’s side have played only four games on their own patch while many have had five.
