Head coach Vitor Matos hailed another characteristic performance from his Swansea City side after they secured a 1-0 away victory over Millwall on Tuesday night.

Ronald’s late winner secured a fourth consecutive victory for the Swans for the first time since April 2025, while also earning them their fifth clean sheet of the season.

Millwall put the Swans under significant pressure in the opening half, repeatedly sending balls into the penalty area. However, Swansea gradually settled into the match and began to create the more dangerous opportunities as the gameprogressed.

Zan Vipotnik, Moussa Yeo and second-half substitute Ross Stewart all came close but failed to find the net frompromising positions. At the other end, Jenson Seelt, Filip Lissah and Ben Cabango produced crucial defensive interventions to keep Millwall’s attacking threat at bay.

And Matos was pleased to come away with another three points after the Swans maintained their position at the top of the early Championship table.

“It was a really good win at a tough place to go,” he said.

“The beginning of the game was really aggressive, with balls played in behind our defensive line, second balls to fight for, corners and long throws. That gave them momentum.

“We knew at the beginning that we were going to have these moments, but we also knew how to handle them with concentration and by sticking to our structure. That was massive.

“We then grew into the game step by step, bringing it under our control. I think we finished the first half really well.

“We had, I think, two more big chances that we could have scored, and I think we put in a really good performance.

“I’m really happy for Ronnie [Ronald] to score that goal too. I think it was another massive performance for the team, for our togetherness and for the fans. We’re really happy with the performance and, of course, the result.

Matos was also left particularly pleased with his side’s mentality, praising their ability to remain focused and fight until the final whistle.

“Staying in the game until the last second is really important, as is having the mentality to fight for every situation and try to get the best out of it, whether it’s a dead ball, a counter-attack or a pressing situation,” he continued.

“I think it was a really mature performance, with a lot of tactical discipline and concentration, especially after playing just two days ago and then having to travel here.”

Around 1,500 members of the Jack Army made the long trip to south-east London on Tuesday night, and Matos was delighted to reward the travelling support with another three points.

"It's unbelievable. I think the wave support has been outstanding,” he added.

“Having this crowd moving with you is just a big, big wave, and I think that's what we want.

“We were really happy to offer them the three points and the performance."
