Vitor Matos has urged Swansea City to be ready to dust themselves off and go again with the required intensity when they host Blackburn Rovers tonight (7.45pm).

The Swans host Rovers looking to make it six league games unbeaten in SA1, and return to winning ways following the frustration of the weekend draw with Birmingham City where Matos’ side struck the woodwork three times following Zan Vipotnik’s goal.

Having racked up 68 shots on goal over their four games in all competitions so far in 2026, there has been clear evidence of Swansea carrying an increasing attacking threat and Matos himself spoke of the encouragement he and his squad can take from the opportunities they are carving out.

And as they face a second game in a little over 72 hours, he has challenged the players to find the correct focus and mindset to once again take the game to their opponents.

“It was good to see us creating chances and becoming more of a threat as an attacking side,” he said.

“We are becoming a more dangerous team, then it is about efficiency and taking the chances.

“We are going in the right direction, I am really happy with the boys and the tenacity and character they are putting on the pitch.

“They are resilient and they, along with the fans and the staff, are really buying into the idea of how we want to play.

“We are increasing our possibilities to score, and this comes from our press, the counter press, being dominant with the ball and this allowing us to be closer to the opposition goal.

“Now we have to be ready for another game, every game feels like a big one at the moment with how the Championship is.

“So it is important that we quickly recover and move forward with the right focus and mentality for this game and make sure we make the improvements we need and approach the game with the same intensity and desire.”
