Vitor Matos | Our task is to keep improving
Vitor Matos has challenged his Swansea City side to build on the confidence of back-to-back victories, and keep improving their performance levels as they prepare to face Stoke City.
The Swans picked up six points and two clean sheets from home games against Oxford United and Portsmouth, securing consecutive league wins for the first time this season.
They now travel to face a Stoke side who had been among the early-season pacesetters before a run of three defeats in a row.
Swansea do not have a good record in the Potteries, but head coach Matos says his side will travel in good spirits, and must be ready to keep taking steps forward.
“The mood has been good,” he said.
“Of course winning is always good, and it creates a good spirit among the team, but we know that we need to improve.
“We need to keep taking steps and that's it. We are in the moment where we have won two games in a row but that doesn't mean nothing for the future. It does not guarantee anything.
“It just means that we need to keep improving. We need to start finding the balance between pressing, direction, ball possession and how to manage times and timings with the ball.
“But that comes with hard work and training, and we know that it's not easy sometimes when we demand something new that it happens and is clear straight away.
“So this is why we wanted to see mentality, desire, anger. We wanted to see a team that can compete against different ways of playing, that's the basis for everything.
“That's what we have seen so far and that now is the way to improve.”
