Vitor Matos pays tribute as Joe Allen and Martyn Margetson prepare for Swans farewell
Vitor Matos has paid tribute to Joe Allen and Martyn Margetson as the pair prepare for their final game with Swansea City this weekend.
First-team coach Allen will step away from his role after Saturday’s fixture against Charlton Athletic, having been brought in to assist Matos and his staff back in November on a short-term basis to help them adjust to their new club.
Head of goalkeeping Margetson will also leave the Swans on Saturday at the end of a fifth season with the club across two spells, having amassed more than 1,000 games at club and international level as a coach.
And Matos wished the pair all the best for the future, and thanked them for their contributions to Swansea City.
“Joe is a special person for all of us, not just for me but for the club. He was really important when I first came in as we wanted someone who understood the squad, who understood the club, and he was fantastic,” said Matos.
“He is an unbelievable person with a big heart and a big passion for football, life and family. I love him and the door will always be open here for him. I wish him all the best for the future, I wish his family all the best and he will always be a legend of the club.
“Martyn is a wonderful professional, a really experienced coach as we all know. He has a wonderful CV, which speaks for itself when it comes to the respect everyone has for him.
“I have a really good relationship with him, and I just want to wish him all the best as well
“He knows he will always to be welcome to come and see us at Swansea."
