Vitor Matos pleased with high-tempo performance as Swans begin pre-season
Vitor Matos was pleased with Swansea City's opening performance of pre-season in front of a crowd of travelling Jacks, as they drew with Bundesliga 2 side, Holstein Kiel.
Ronald and Adam Idah were on the scoresheet either side of the break in Kufstein, as the Swans kicked off their pre-season preparations in Austria.
The fixture provided an encouraging opportunity for Matos to see his side in action as preparations continue ahead of the new campaign.
"It's very nice to be back, and to have the fans here, it makes a difference for all us," said Matos.
"It was a good start against a good side. They are ahead of us in their pre-season, they played with a good tempo which is good with us.
"There were some really good things that we saw already, and it's important that we keep building and have an idea of what team we want to be."
Matos also praised the new summer arrivals Stephen Welsh and Moussa Yeo as well as second-year scholar Carter Heywood, who made his first appearance for the senior team.
"I'm really impressed with both, and they both played really well. It's also good now that the team will also start to understand them as well," he added.
"And to understand their strengths and how we can use that in our game.
"It was also good to see players from the academy, a lot of new faces which allows us to know them better."
