Head coach Vitor Matos insists Swansea City face Stoke City with no shortage of motivation as they seek to extend their unbeaten home run to double figures at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Swans host the Potters having taking seven wins and two draws from their last nine games, helping them to have the fifth-best home record in the Championship across the entire campaign.

They are looking to bounce back from defeat at Ipswich Town last time out, a result that left Swansea 11 points off the top six and a dozen points clear of the bottom three.

Matos was asked at his pre-match press conference if those gaps left his side with little to play for over the final stages of the campaign.

But the Portuguese is clear that he and his players still have plenty they want to accomplish, and will always have a responsibility to treat every time they represent Swansea City with the same focus, commitment and intensity.

"It’s down to us to make the steps forward we need to become the team we all want to be, and that is what motivates us every day and every game," he said.

"We know what an honour it is to represent this club, and with that comes a responsibility that we treat every game as important as the others.

"It’s about what we can become going through this journey step-by-step together, we want to become a dominant team and one that pleases our fans and gives the supporters a team they feel a bond to.

"These are the foundations we have to keep building on, we have to play for the badge and what this club is and what it represents.

"The connection and the passion is there and it’s about what we can build together."
