Vitor Matos wants Swansea City to make the most of home comforts by producing another positive Swansea.com Stadium performance when they host West Bromwich Albion in their first game of 2026 this afternoon (3pm).

The Swans have been one of the form teams in the Championship over the last six games, winning four of them to secure 12 points from the 18 available.

The most recent of those came at Oxford on Monday, with the previous three all being in SA1 against the U’s, Portsmouth and Wrexham.

They now host a Baggies side who the Swans will not need reminding came back from two goals down to beat Matos’ side 3-2 at The Hawthorns at the end of November.

But revenge for that painful loss is not at the forefront of Matos’ thoughts, instead he insists the focus of he and the players remains on continuing to move forward positively.

“We have missed home, that is for sure,” he said.

“Having two away games in this short period of time was hard for us, and we have had to handle that.

“Playing at home in front of our fans is important to us, but that does not mean anything if we do not do our jobs and perform on the pitch.

“That’s what we need, because it will be a tough game against a good team.

“We know how hard it will be after the second half in our last game against them, so we have to be ready to compete.

“We have learned from that, I feel we are making small improvements in parts of the game. The foundations are getting settled in terms of the energy, the hunger and the desire because we need that.

“That has to be the mindset because there is still a lot to come from us.”
