Vitor Matos | We showed we are growing in maturity

Head coach Vitor Matos felt Swansea City's victory at Leicester City showed the growing maturity in his squad as they claimed a 1-0 win at the King Power Stadium.

Zan Vipotnik's 23rd goal of the season proved the difference, the Slovenian lashing home a rising strike after a brilliant individual run from Jisung Eom had carred the Swans from one end of the pitch to the other.

The visitors kept a first clean sheet since the win over Stoke City in March, and defended superbly during the closing stages as the relegation-threatened Foxes piled blue shirts forward in search of an equaliser.

Vipotnik had cleared off his own line in the first half, while Lawrence Vigouroux made a pair of key saves, and centre-halves Ben Cabango and Cameron Burgess dealt with everything that came their way.

It made sure the 1,300-strong away end could make the long journey home happy, and Matos hopes they can see the improvements his team are making.

"I think once again the most important thing was the mentality the team showed," he said.

"To get the clean sheet, the consistency we showed, and the way we understood that there were moments in the game where we would need to be compact, was really good.

"We had good moments, of course we need to have more continuous spells like that, but we were solid and stable.

"The goal is a wonderful goal, it is an unbelievable run from Jisung, you can see he is a good player who is in a good moment in terms of confidence.

"Then it was a great touch from Vipi and a brilliant finish, and there were a lot of positives.

"We have been close to a result like this in the last two games, the hunger and desire was there and I am so happy for the players.

"We are growing in maturity and tactical understanding, We were aware and ready for everything, like when Vipi makes the block on the line.

"I need to mention the fans as well because, once again, they were unbelievable in the way they were behind us.

"It is incredible to see and hear them from the first minute to 90th. They are always with us, and it was nice to celebrate with them.

"It says a lot about the club and it says a lot about the people. We need to keep this feeling with us, I hope they can see we are taking good steps."
