Vitor Matos | We want to keep building the connection we have
Head coach Vitor Matos wants Swansea City to build on the togetherness and connection that has helped underpin their strong run of form when they host Birmingham City this evening (5.30pm).
The Swans have won their last four Championship fixtures on home turf, and a fifth against the Blues would mark the first time they have strung together five in a row since 2019.
They face a Birmingham side without a league win on their travels since October, but who have been buoyed by back-to-back wins over Championship leaders Coventry City and an FA Cup win against Cambridge United.
Matos has often spoken of the importance of the bond between team and supporters, and he believes that has been a fundamental element of Swansea's improved form.
The Portuguese is keen to make sure that continues.
“We want this to continue, and we will need this feeling because Birmingham are a very organised team, a really well managed team that has a clear identity in terms of how they want to be as an offensive team," he said.
“It's a team who likes to press, who likes to be dominant with the ball. It's clear how they build, it's clear they have a lot of options in terms of squad which gives them a lot of possibilities.
“So yeah, we really expect a good game, a game that we need to be on our toes to compete in and I think that's quite important.
“Our home form has been good, and the connection between the team and the fans has been a big reason for this.
“It is one of the biggest things we have and it keeps growing and we all benefit from that.
“It is great for us as a club, and we know it is down to us as a team on the pitch to bring the fans with us, when we can do that we can have special evenings. That’s what we want.”
