Head coach Vitor Matos says he and his Swansea City squad are braced for another tough test when they face Millwall on Tuesday night, but expect it to be different than the one they faced against Norwich at the weekend.

The Swans travel to south London looking to build on their weekend victory over the Canaries, where second-half goals from Adam Idah and Moussa Yeo saw them come from behind to win for the third time this season.

The victory took Swansea to 20 points from their opening nine league games, marking the club’s best start to a league season since three points for a win were introduced.

John Toshack’s history-making side of 1981 had previously held the record alongside the 2003 and 2005 teams.

They now face a Millwall side who have also made an impressive start to the campaign, currently occupying the final play-off position after picking up important wins against Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers and Norwich City, as well as securing a creditable draw against rivals West Ham United.

And head coach Matos is therefore under no illusions about the challenge awaiting his side at The Den.

“Millwall will be a completely different game,” he said.

“I think it’s a really hard place to go and a different type of challenge that will test us in different ways.

“We know they’re a really competitive team, a team that can always bounce back, can always fight until the last minute, like last season, so we need to be ready again.

“It’s important that we prepare the game in the right way as always, and be ready to put in another proper performance for the fans.”
